Congress Attendee Travel Alert

Starting on January 22, 2018, some U.S. travelers will need an alternative form of ID for domestic air travel, according to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). The changes are connected with new identification standards required by the REAL ID Act, which requires U.S. travelers to have a driver’s license that meets federal standards—or an alternative form of identification—for domestic flights.

All U.S. Congress attendees who will be flying to San Antonio should check with the TSA to see whether their state is compliant with the new domestic travel requirements. Travelers from states that are compliant may use their driver’s licenses or state IDs.

The TSA has confirmed that U.S. travelers may use alternative forms of identification, such as U.S. passports, military IDs, or permanent resident cards.
