The ICU Patient Communicator App by the Society of Critical Care Medicine (SCCM) was designed to assist critical care providers communicate with patients who are unable to speak due to mechanical ventilation, hearing or speech limitations. The app also features translation capabilities in 19 different languages that provides the opportunity to have a two-way conversation between physician and patient.
The ICU Patient Communicator App allows patients to identity where on the body they are feeling sensations as well as the severity. Pain, itching and nausea can all be identified in exact locations on the body and rated on a scale of 0-10 for severity.
